Thankyou ska_iit EAD rangaswamy and imm_pro.

All, please remember my intention is to motivate people who never contributed so far and who start
a $50 monthly contribution for at least six months. I am going to do a one time contribution of $50
for all such contributions (limits apply which I still did not disclose)

Anyway good start. ska_iit EAD rangaswamy and imm_pro, please consider monthly contributions. imm_pro, you
are only 2 contributions (of $50) away from the target of $300.

While making my contribution I would like to thank all the people who have started their new monthly contribution.
I would feel bad if I miss their name while searching the thread, so please PM me.

Here are the details of my third contribution of $100

    Order Details - Sep 12, 2007 6:12 PM EDT

I missed the boat in 2007. I think the bigger point here is that people vent their frustration of their GC journey only in a blog hiding their identity. When it comes to real work of meeting people, most hide under their bed..

If the July 2007 fiasco hadn't happened, we wouldn't have had this mess. Most waiting on GC would have quit and gone home making the line shorter

    (The last line is sarcastic)

I think there is more smartness needed than luck in the greencard process. If you look at the posts in this thread there are some people that came to USA in 1990s and still waiting, while some that came much later are on their way to citizenship. Some got the EB2 route and are happy and some in EB3 have only gloom before them.

This in my opinion has helped smart folks among us:

    - They applied for GC as soon as possible. Those who waited did not give importance to Greencard as soon as they started a job in USA are now paying for their mistakes. During the initial days of career I have seen people saying that GC is not important to them etc but when their H1B is about to expire they panic and get desperate for Green Card.

    - Before pre-PERM era in 2005, smart folks took up jobs in states where labor certification had no backlog. They are now either waiting for citizenship or already citizens. On the other hand people in states like CA, NY etc suffered due to labor backlogs and far from getting greencard in hand.

    - Any company can be good or bad for an individual. It it not a question of consulting vs fortune 500 or small vs big size of a company. Smart folks know what matters them the most when they join a company. When company sees them as a valuable asset, it applies for them. I have seen where company applied for GC as soon as the employee joined it. And I have seen posts where people had to wait for several years before company applied.

    - People who took advantage of the Labor substitution got faster labors. Some could take advantage of EB2 labors and they are very fortunate. This is in no way endorsing the labor substitution rule, but in pre 2007 times nobody was protesting against it. This is a sad reality.

    - Smart folks took the risk and changed jobs wth EB2 job requirements, so that they can file in EB2. Such folks with 2007 PD are happy today and people with 2003 PDs in EB3 will have to wait for a long time.

    - If you read posts on this thread, many people have posted that they feel they are being screwed by their employer or lawyer. But hardly anyone has said they took any action against it. This is also a sad reality where we as a community have failed and will continue to suffer.

    - Many folks have said that they thought they were in EB2. But found they are in EB3. This shows another weakness of our community and lack of awareness. IV forum tries to spread the awareness but unless an individual takes initiative, they will suffer.

Many people were able to file I485 in July 2007 due to IV effort. Imagine a 2004 EB3 India person without EAD today? How will he survive a job loss on H1B in a bad economy? We should take a lesson from that event and try for another big push. There is no other shortcut for us. It is shocking to find people on this thread that are in this country for more than 10 years and without a green card. These folks should be the most vocal folks in this effort.

    -

I have analyzed the tracker from Rajiv Khanna's site. Here are some inputs.

Cases transferred from federal offices :
There is no set trend in processing of these cases. There are a substantial number of approvals.

Cases transferred from SWA offices :
There is clear trend here. The last 3/4 months PBEC has sent out approvals from mid 2002. There are a number of PD June 2002 approvals and some PD July, august, september '02. There is an effort to push mid 2002 cases in PBEC.
The folks left over from 2001 may receive NOF or some query. I am not sure.
If you are a SWA cases from 2001 you should be talking to someone...your lawyer...employer...

SGP, It took 3-4 weeks for a co-worker in eb2 to get an approval once labor was filed(excludes Pre activities like ads etc)

It seems Feb 2011 is a golden era for PERM approvals , almost similar effect of July 2007. I have noticed people who filed in February got their PERM approvals in under 2 weeks.

Thanks LONGGCQUE and forgerator. For the benefit of others, I will post the time time it took to get approval as soon as I get it.

Don't just blurt something out of frustration without thinking twice before hitting the "Submit" button. We are all frustrated here when it comes to GC processing. In that sense we are all in the SAME BOAT. Be specific about the point you are trying to make instead of blanketing all H1B and GC aspirants so that its not confusing or misleading to others.

Well,If you think that it was a cheap attempt, then i belive you need tutoring in english first, i would have appreciated if you would have read the full documents first, if you are not in the same boat as others doesnot means that others are not, there are still many H1 holders whose spouse doesnot have a SSN and only ITIN, and i am not over or below quoting the statement made by IRS.

Please think twice before issuing any statements.

P.S- Thanks for Pointing that Title of a Thread is for writing autobiographies, I will keep that in mind, when you are around. :-)

    # nycgal369, Senior Member like you coming up with this idea...hmmm..

Do you think mass rallies by illegals has helped them? Did not it back fire? will be the same for us. Will not help. The question is not about being scared, its more about doing the right thing.

First of all, forget about back firing, can we get 100 people to do this. IV has been trying for funds and i dont think even 10% have contributed..why would u think any one would loose a pay day? even if you take 20$/hour i.e 160$ per day. Lot of members are not ready to contribute 50 bucks :) There might be a few who can not contribute due to various reasons and i totally sympathize with them but what about the remaining?

My point is not to discourage but just for a reality check

    Dear Knnmbd,

It seems to me you do not understand the difference between taxes and Social Security / Medicare.

With my taxes I pay for (example) roads, police, courts, public TV and so on. And I use what I pay for (another nice example is when the police paid by me catches me with high speed and fines me :-)

SS and Medicare are future services which I would not use while I am on H1/L1 or if I do not get permanent residence by some reason. This is my money which the US government has compulsory taken from me and I have not used it. So, I have the right to get this money back and use it for my eventual retirement in another country.

We do not change the law of the land to benefit us, we just do not want to be cheated and treated like retarded.

The real ridiculous stuff is the way the government agencies are treating the legal immigrants but nobody in the "great" country care to notice that, especially the law-makers.
    bkam,

I PRECISLY UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SS, MEDICARE VERSUS TAXES.I was just mocking at the ridiculousness of your demands. Hey, if you think that the government agencies are treating legal immigrants badly and we are being "cheated and treated like retards", may be all of us should move to a country where the laws are more flexible, aah like India. How often have you been on a forum in your home country lobbying for injustices being rendered to citizens, none probably. Just because we are in a country where there is a small chance for a group of people like ourselves in the IV have the privilege to have our voices heard does not mean we ask for the sun. Do you think in a economy like this with high gas prices, the war, and not to mention the ailing social security system and everything else asking the government to stop taking SS tax and Medicare from non- immigrant workers is going to fly, I DONT THINK SO. And not only that we will end up looking like a bunch of guys with outrageous demands.

So all I am saying is the issue is not SS or Medicare or entry date being the PD, but it is MORE IMMIGRANT VISA NUMBERS. I think we have lost our focus after the bill was shot down in the senate. We have just ONE demand if I am not mistaken, and I think the core team will agree with me on this and that is to ease retrogression by having more visa numbers in the pool for countries like India and China and that should be our only demand.

In a weird way, I feel this is good news. An old saying in China says 'Things will turn to their opposite at their extremes'. The moment before dawn is the darkest hour of the day.

I agree with you buddy. At least USCIS has removed uncertainity from the visa bulletin which is in one way a good thing. Now at least no one would keep a thread open every month for next month's prediction.

I still have a hope that anything can happen . Being pessimistic never helped anyone. Look what happened at the end of the 80's when all the illegals were given GC and how visa recapture happened in 2000. You never know what the future holds.
